At Rise 21 Dance Company, all classes are structured according to age and ability.

It is of utmost importance to us that your dancer is placed in an appropriate class to ensure their path to individual growth and success.

We offer Company classes*, examinations*, as well as Professional Half Day* programs for dancers.

Recreational programs are open to everyone!
Whatever level you are at… we have a class for you!

* by assessment only

Acrobatics •  Ages 5+ Acro is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. It is defined by its athletic character, its choreography, which seamlessly blends dance and acrobatics, and its use of acrobatics in a dance context.

We teach Acro under the guidelines of the BC Gymnastics Association, and the CDTA.

Ballet  •  Ages 3+
Our program uses the Cecchetti Method of Ballet, which teaches the student to think of the movement of the foot, leg, arm, and head: not as something apart, but in its relation to the whole body, to develop a feeling for graceful lines.

Our Creative Movement and Primary classes work with young children (ages 2-5)  to develop their imagination, body awareness, and coordination in an environment that is filled with fun and action! As the children progress, they are taught basic dance movements and skills in Ballet through dancing, singing, and dance-oriented games.

Ballet Pointe

Classes are available to those students who, at the discretion of the Ballet instructor, are adequately prepared. These classes generally happen at a level of Cecchetti Grade 5. Dancers may enroll in our Ballet Examination classes. Rise21 Company uses the Cecchetti Syllabus for exams.

Dancers progress from Primary-Standard 6, Grades 1 through 6; Intermediate; Advanced 1; Advanced 2; Diploma.

Hip Hop •  Ages 4+

Students learn technical elements based on music video styles using the most current Funk/Hip Hop combinations in the media today.

Jazz •  Ages 5+

A physical, energetic, and quick-tempo dance form that emphasizes body line, flexible torso, fast accurate footwork with the feet basically parallel, and exaggerated movements of individual body parts, such as the shoulders.

We use the CDTA Syllabus, and dancers who are registered in an intensive program may be eligible for the CDTA exam program.

Lyrical •  Ages 8+

An expressive movement class using combinations of ballet, jazz and modern dance forms.

Ballet and Jazz prerequisite.

Modern •  Ages 12+ Modern dance is a more relaxed, free style of dance in which choreographers use emotions and moods to design their own steps, in contrast to ballet's structured curriculum of steps. It has a deliberate use of gravity, whereas ballet strives to be light and airy.

Ballet and/or Jazz prerequisite.

Tap •  Ages 5+

Students develop a repertoire of technical elements, rhythmic footwork, creative combinations and challenging beats. Tap as a dance form is distinguished by percussive footwork that marks out precise rhythmic patterns on the floor.

We use the CDTA Syllabus, and dancers who are registered in an intensive program may be eligible for the CDTA exam program.

Stage (Musical Theatre) •  Ages 8+

This program provides an introduction to a popular dance style that combines dance and stage/theatre performance.

Jazz prerequisite.
